Ms. Ann M. Thayer is the founding owner of The Law Office of Ann Thayer, PLLC. Ann defends juveniles & adults charged with traffic, criminal, & DUI/DWI offenses. She also handles domestic violence & civil protective orders, dangerous dog & other animal cases as well as expungements. She is experienced in all Northern Virginia General District, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District, and Circuit Courts. Her ability to clearly communicate with clients and fight for them while also caring about what happens to them makes her an ideal choice as a defense lawyer. She is admitted to practice in Virginia and is also a member of the Virginia State Bar, Criminal Law Section of the Virginia State Bar, Fairfax County Bar Association, and the Criminal Section in Fairfax. She is a member of the Fairfax Bar Association General District Court Committee and Juvenile Domestic Relations District Court Committee and has served as Co-Chair of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court for two years. She is a founding member of DUIDLA and a member of NCDD (two DUI defense organizations). Ms. Thayer attended Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia where she obtained a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice in 2000. Attending Widener School of Law in Harrisburg, PA, Ms. Thayer worked with the Prince William County Attorney’s Office and The Air Force Judge Advocate General (JAG) in Warner Robins, GA as an intern before obtaining her Juris Doctorate in 2004.

Following law school, Ms. Thayer worked on several mergers and acquisitions as a contract attorney with various firms in the Virginia and Washington, D.C. area. Ms. Thayer then worked for the Fredericksburg Public Defender’s Office where she represented hundreds of indigent defendants in a variety of misdemeanor and felony offenses including rape and other sexual assault charges, assault and battery, shoplifting and larceny, and drug offenses. While with the Fredericksburg Public Defender’s Office Ms. Thayer appeared in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts, General District Courts, and Circuit Courts in The City of Fredericksburg and the Counties of Spotsylvania, Stafford, and King George.

Following her work at the Public Defender’s Officer, Ms. Thayer worked for T. Kevin Wilson where she became a member of National College for DUI Defense and attended several national trainings on DUI defense. She also continued her work in criminal, traffic, and juvenile cases. Ms. Thayer then went on to work for Price Benowitz, LLP where she managed the Fairfax office and continued her practice handling DUI, Criminal, Juvenile, and Traffic offenses. She then joined Taylor Law Company where she still prides herself on helping juveniles and adults who find themselves in trouble. She also began representing people in need of protective orders, those who need help defending a protective order, and people who are charged with various animal criminal and civil violations of the law.

Ms. Thayer prides herself on her ability to communicate with, understand, and work together with her clients in representing their interests and has substantial experience in defending juveniles and adults charged with a misdemeanor and felony traffic and criminal offenses, including the most serious and complex of such matters.

Ann grew up the daughter of a detective and has always had an interest in criminal justice. She is the oldest of six kids and has many cousins, nieces, and nephews which helps her understand and be able to relate better to her juvenile clients. When the weather cooperates she enjoys playing sand volleyball year round with a group she has known for years She is a huge sports fan and enjoys rooting for all her favorite teams. She also loves music and attending outdoor concerts.
